2026 NY Downstate Regional Sunfish Championship

Hosted in conjunction with the U.S. Sunfish Class Association, this regatta will serve as a qualifier for the 2027 ISCA/Sunfish Worlds in St. Barts. WYS offers excellent sailing on Moriches Bay. Boats launch from a smooth, sandy beach, the water should be warm, and we expect great sailing conditions.

Outstanding race management will be complemented by warm hospitality: hot showers, a beautiful clubhouse and many enthusiastic volunteers. The $110 registration fee includes Hampton Coffee breakfasts with coffee, tea, fresh fruit, and bagels, plus a boxed lunch. The Saturday evening party, included with your registration, features barbecue by the BBQ King of Sayville, NY, and live music. Additional guests are welcome for $25. Sunday’s races will be followed by awards, hero sandwiches and snacks, and a keg on the club lawn. (Vegan options available for those who request in advance.)

For extra practice or more great sailing, join our popular Fall Series, which now meets on Saturdays, with a competitors’ meeting at noon and the first race at 12:45 p.m. The $25 registration fee for the series includes boat storage at the club during the series.
