Information We Collect

• Account information, including name, email address, sign-in method, session data, and organization membership.
• Sailing workflow data, including boats, crew roles, event plans, invitations, availability, profile details, saved events, and event-interest records.
• Contact and communication data, including invitation emails, notification preferences, support requests, and operational messages.
• Billing and subscription data, including plan, checkout status, Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, billing portal activity, and reconciliation records. Laylines does not store full card numbers.
• Uploaded files and media you choose to provide, such as boat or profile images.
• Location and discovery inputs, such as search locations, map interactions, or approximate location data when you choose to use nearby-event features.
• Technical and security data, including device/browser details, IP-derived request data, analytics events, logs, error reports, and fraud or abuse signals.
• Public or third-party sailing event data from regatta platforms and other event sources used to power discovery, recommendations, and crew planning.

How We Use Information

• Provide accounts, authentication, organization access, and role-based permissions.
• Run crew coordination, event planning, invitations, reminders, and notifications.
• Power event discovery, search, maps, recommendations, and public event pages.
• Process subscriptions, billing state, customer support, and billing recovery.
• Maintain security, prevent abuse, debug errors, measure reliability, and improve the product.
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

Privacy Controls

Laylines uses a most-restrictive-wins privacy model. Organization settings and individual user preferences both matter, and sensitive contact details stay hidden unless the applicable workflow, role, and privacy settings allow access. Organization owners and authorized organizers may see additional information needed to operate their team and events.

Notification settings let you control supported in-app and email notification types. Some operational messages may still be sent when needed for security, account access, billing, invitations, or service administration.

How We Share Information

We share information only as needed to operate Laylines, support your organization, comply with law, or protect the service. We do not sell personal information or use Laylines data for third-party ad targeting.

• Within your organization, according to role, permission, workflow, and privacy settings.
• With sailing event sources when you follow external links or use source-backed workflows.
• With service providers that help run the product, including Vercel for hosting and analytics, Better Auth and Google OAuth for authentication, Stripe for payments, Brevo/SMTP providers for email delivery, UploadThing for uploads, Mapbox for maps and geocoding, Sentry for error monitoring, and database infrastructure providers.
• With authorities, counterparties, or advisors when required by law or needed to protect rights, safety, and security.

Retention And Security

We keep information for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain records, resolve disputes, support audits, enforce agreements, and meet legal obligations. Some operational logs and billing records may be retained after account closure.

We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal data, including access controls, scoped permissions, secure transport, monitoring, and audit records for sensitive operations. No internet service can guarantee perfect security.

Your Choices And Rights

You can update many account, profile, notification, and privacy settings in Laylines. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, or limits on certain processing. Email support@getlaylines.com to make a request. We may need to verify your identity and may retain information where permitted or required for security, legal, billing, or operational reasons.

Children

Laylines is not intended for children under 13. Youth sailing events may appear in discovery, but children under 13 should not create accounts or submit personal data directly. Contact us if you believe a child submitted personal data to Laylines.

Updates

We may update this policy as the product, vendors, or legal requirements change. The effective date above shows when the current version took effect.
